Day 01: Arrive at Darjeeling:
On arrival, you will be met by a travel representative who will assisit you in transferring to the Darjeeling city by road. Enamour the beauty of this hill station located at a height of 6,000 feet with the lofty mountains of Kanchenjunga as a backdrop. Check into the hotel. Evening at leisure to roam around Mall or local shopping centre.Overnight stay at Darjeeling.
Day 02: Darjeeling Local Sightseeing:
Early morning at 3.45 a.m. drive to Tiger Hill to witness the sunrise over Kanchenjunga Peak. The beauty of the sun shining behind the lofty mountains and painting the sky crimson red is a sight to behold. It’s one of those magical moments when the Sun kisses the mountains at the break of dawn and the entire atmosphere gets tranformed into an endearing magnificent vista. On the way back, visit Ghoom monastery, one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries in Darjeeling. The monastery has a 15- feet idol of Lord Buddha known as Maitreya Buddha which is one of the biggest and oldest statues of lord Buddha. Thereafter visit Peace Pagoda which was built to promote spirituality and world peace. Subsequently visit Batasia loop. This is a war memorial was built in the memory of brave Gorkha Soldiers who laid down their lives for their country during times of war and upheavel. Return to the hotel for breakfast. Thereafter, visit Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park which is the only zoo in the world which breeds Tibetan wolf in captivity. It also breeds Snow Leopards and Siberan Tiger and the zoo has achieved the recognition to be the first South Asian Zoo to do so. Next visit Himalyan Mountaineering Institute which is one of the most respected Himalayan Mountaineering Institute in the world. Since Darjeeling is the hub of all mountaineering activity in India, the institute was opened to propagate mountaineering expeditions among adventurous mountaineers.(The institute is closed on Thursdays). Enjoy a ride on a ropeway which is India’s oldest passanger ropeway and relish the sight of lush green tea gardens below.Henceforth, visit Tenzing Gumbo rock and Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre (Closed on Sunday). The latter was established in order to rehabilitate the Tibetan refugees who had fled from Tibet and had taken shelter in India. Visit the sprawling tea estates which provide a revivifying experience away from the humdrum of city life. Visit Natural History Museum (Closed on Sundays). The latter has a vivid collection of Bengali and Himalyan fauna. Return to the hotel. Feel free to stroll in the evening around Malls or Chowk Bazaar.Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 03: Darjeeling to Gangtok (135Kms/3.5 hrs):
After a delicious breakfast in the morning, drive to Gangtok. Gangtok is located at a height of 5500 feet making it one of the most beautiful hill stations in India. With mount Kanchenjunga in the backdrop, the place can attract anyone who wants to spend time amidst the natural beauty and pious monasteries. Check into the hotel. Make yourself comfortable and then visit Directorate of Handicrafts & Handloom, a technical institute which provides training for traditional arts and crafts. Thereafter, visit Sikkim Research Institute of Tibetology which was set up to conduct research on the language and traditions of Tibet. The institute comprises a library and a museum as well. Subsequently, visit Do Drul Chorten, the biggest and most important Buddhist Stupa. Haunt at Enchey monastery, one of the most important monasteries of Sikkim. Visit White Hall built according to British architectural style. A flower show is arranged in and around white hall in the spring season. Return to the hotel. Feel free to have a stroll in the market place in the evening. Stay overnight at Gangtok.
Day 04: Excursion to Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir (40Kms/2hrs):
After breakfast at the hotel in the morning, embark on an excursion to Tsomgo Lake, a large oval shaped lake which is 50 feet deep and is situated at an altitude of 12, 210 feet.the lake is home to Brahmini ducks and many migratory ducks. The lake is an ideal habitat for the Red Panda and many other aquatic species. Besides wild fauna, the lake is beautified by the presence of rare varties of floral species viz; Primulas, Rhododendrons and blue and yellow poppies. Thereafter, visit Baba Mandir which is 20 km from Tsomgo Lake and has been built in the memory of a soldier in the 23rd Punjab Regiment. Finally visit Kyongnosla Alpine Sanctuary which is located closed to Tsomgo Lake and is rich in flora and fauna. Return to Gangtok. In the evening, feel free to roam in Mall located at MG road or amble around local shopping center. Stay overnight at Gangtok. Optional tour:May visit Nathu La Pass to Republic of China which is 20 Km approximately.
Day 05: Departure transfer:
After the morning breakfast, transfer to the railway station/bus stand/airport to connect your flight back home or for an onward journey.
